Background

Pokhara University School of Business Alumni Association (PUSOBAA) was established as a common forum for all management graduates of Pokhara University School of Business on the initiation and patroonship of School of Business. It is a voluntary body working to connect the ex-students and build a network of relationships with the current students and enhance the brand image of the school. It has also been formally registered in District Administration Office, Kaski on 12^th Shrawn, 2077 and renewed annually.

Graduates of the university are the assets and they can be regarded as the ambassador of the university. There is a large number of graduates of School of Business, since its inception in 1999 AD, working in various sectors of the country and abroad exhibiting knowledge, skill, talent and efficiency. In order to coordinate them, the organization is helping School of Business by organizing various programs.

Glimpse of PAST Programmes:

1. First Alumni Meet and Ad-Hoc Committee

The first alumni meet was held on 5^th January 2019 in White House Party Palace, Pokhara on the initiation of School of Business. The meeting formed the ad-hoc Committee of Pokhara University School of Business Alumni Association (PUSOBAA) under the chairmanship of Dr. Chaitnya Raj Adhikari, First Batch MBA Alumni of SOB.

1. Discussion Program on Banking Today and Tomorrow

A discussion program on "Banking Today and Tomorrow" was organized on June 1^st  2019 AD (Jestha 18 ^th 2076 BS). The speakers in the program were Mr. Umesh Acharya, CEO of Green Development Bank, Mr. Dipendra Sharma, Province Head, NIC Asia Bank and Mr. Samir KC, Province Head of Civil Bank. The Dean of Pokhara University, Prof. Hari Bahadur Khadka was the Chief Guest of the program chaired by PUSOBAA President Dr. Chaitanya Raj Adhikari whereas Mr. Santosh Sharma, Branch Manager of Nepal Bank Limited facilitated the discussion. Ms. Deepmala Shrestha, Vice-President of the alumni delivered the welcome speech. Fifty nine participants who were mostly the students of Pokhara University and its affiliated colleges attended the program.

1. A talk program on Contemporary issue on Nepalese Capital Market

A talk program on "Contemporary Issues of Capital Market in Nepal" was organized on Asar 6^th  2076 BS. The speakers in the program were Mr. Chandra Singh Saud, CEO of NEPSE, Mr. Baikuntha Nidhi Sharma, Under-secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Deputy Chief, Bank and Financial Department, MOF) Mr. Murahari Parajuli (Spokesperson, NEPSE) and Prabhakar Ghimire (Senior Information officer, NEPSE). Dr. Rabindra Ghimire, the Director of School of Business, Pokhara University was the Special Guest of the program chaired by PUSOBAA President Dr. Chaitanya Raj Adhikari whereas Mr. Santosh Sharma, the joint secretary of the alumni conducted the program. Mr. Subash Malla, a member of the alumni delivered the welcome speech.

1. Webinar on 'PhD Opportunities and Preparation for Management Students Globally'

A webinar was conducted on 5th June 2020 Friday (23rd Jestha 2076) by using digital platform Google Meet during COVID Pandemic. Dr. Ankit Katrodia (Postdoc, PhD, MBA, M. Com and FDPM IIMA) from North West University, South Africa was the Key Resource Person who presented his insight on PhD career for the higher studies round the globe.

1. Second Alumni Meet and AGM of PUSOBAA

The second alumni meet was held on 18^th December 2021 in City Square Banquet, Pokhara on the initiation of PUSOBAA and collaboration of Alumni Cell, School of Business. The meeting was followed by Annual General Meeting that formed new Board of Pokhara University School of Business Alumni Association (PUSOBAA) under the chairmanship of Umesh Acharya, First Batch MBA Alumni of SOB. The Meet was chaired by PUSOBAA President Dr. Chaitanya Raj Adhikari whereas Mr. Subash Malla, the member of the association conducted the program. Dr. Daya Raj Dhakal, Dean of Faculty of Management was the chief guest of the ceremony in which past dean, past directors, senior professors, staffs and alumni were present in significant number.

Glimpse of Programme after First AGM:

1. Pre-Budget Interaction Programme

A pre-budget interaction programme was organized on 2079 Jestha 12 on the presence of prominent guests from different sectors pointed their view on the various dimensions of budget making process of Nepal. The speakers of the session were:Dr. Ram Sharan Kharel, Director, Nepal Rastra Bank, Gandaki Province Office, Pokhara, Prof. Dr. L.N. Bhattarai, Professor of Economics, Narayan Koirala, President, Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chhatra Dhar Aatreya, President, Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The program was chaired by PUSOBAA President Umesh Kumar Acharya whereas Mr. Subash Malla, the secretary of the association conducted the program.

1. Training on 'Qualitative Data Analysis in MS-Office'.

PUSOBAA organized a Training Session on 'Qualitative Data Analysis in MS-Office' on 17-19 Bhadra, 2079 in Computer Lab of Pokhara College of Management, Pokhara. Dr. Anup K.C. (PhD from Clemson University USA) Assistant Professor, Amrit Science Campus, TU was the resource person for 6 sessions with 20 young researchers in Pokhara. Dr. Rabindra Ghimire, Past Director, SOB was the chief guest of the opening ceremony whereas Dr. Shrijan Gwyali, Director of SOB was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.

1. Alumni of PUSOB Series

PUSOBAA has started a series of Alumni of PUSOB from its own facebook page. The series has picked the successful alumni that can make the students feel inspired and motivated.

1. Alumni Meet Kathmandu

PUSOBAA in the collaboration with PUSOB organized alumni meet in Kathmandu valley for the first time on 25^th Baishakh 2080 in Nepal House Restaurent and Bar, Hattisar, Lalitpur. The Meet was chaired by PUSOBAA President Umesh Kumar Acharya whereas Mr. Subash Malla, the secretary of the association conducted the program. Dr. Shrijan Gyawali, Director, School of Business was the chief guest of the ceremony in which ex-director Dr. Rabindra Ghimire, professors, staffs and alumni were present in qualitative number. The meet has also made 7 member ad-hoc chapter in Kathmandu in which Tenjin Cheegyal, Mukta Raj Gautam, Smarika Bhaila, Sabina Ghimre, Bishal Neaupane, Lalit Shahi and Prashant Thapa were elected as the Kathmandu Chapter team.

1. PUSOBAA Alumni Profile

PUSOB has started to make Alumni Profile starting from MBA graduates in association with PUSOBAA. Two final semester MBA students Sandesh Timilsina and Shreedhar Khanal are working as interns in SOB for the same purpose. The profile is planned to be completed till the end of Ashad. The digitalization of the records has been completed and the details collection from google form is going on.

• Limited database of alumni
• Lack of budget
• Busy schedules of alumni
• Difficulty in information collection of the alumni

This tenure was started with very infant stage. The first few months of the tenure was concentrated in various documentation and legislation activities. With limited time and budget, PUSOBAA has been continuously engaged in various activities of overall academic development of PUSOB as one very important stakeholder. Furthermore, the organization will be achieving new horizon with the continuous support of the member and other stakeholders.

Programs after AGM

1. Alumni Meet Pokhara and Second AGM

PUSOBAA in the collaboration with PUSOB organized alumni meet in Pokhara for third time on 15^th Jestha 2080 in Hotel Himalaya Utsav, Pokhara. The Meet was chaired by PUSOBAA President Umesh Kumar Acharya whereas Mr. Subash Malla, the secretary of the association conducted the program. Dr. Daya Raj Dhakal, Dean of Faculty of Management, Pokhara University was the chief guest of the ceremony in which Dr. Shrijan Gyawali, Director, School of Business,ex-campus chief Prof. Dr. Graneshwor Sharma, professors, staffs and alumni were present in qualitative number. The meet was followed by AGM in which the Annual Report presented by President and Secretary was passed by the hall.

1. Workshop on Mixed Method Research

PUSOBAA is organized a Workshop on Mixed Method Research on 18-20 Jestha, 2080 in Fishtail Mountain School of Hospitality, Tourism and Management, Pokhara. Dr. Anup K.C. (PhD from Clemson University USA) Assistant Professor, Amrit Science Campus, TU was the resource person for 5 sessions with 10 young researchers as participants.Dr. Chaitnya Raj Adhikari, Founder President was Chief Guest of the Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the training.

1. Basic Stock Market Training for BBA Students

PUSOBAA has co-organized a Basic Stock Market Training for BBA students on the technical and financial support to Pokhara University Council of Management Students (PUCMS) on 1^st of Ashar, 2080. Alumni of PUSOB Manoj Poudel along with his colleague Kamal Poudel were resource person managed by PUSOBAA along with some financial support for PUCMS to organize the programme.
