Quality is no longer perceived as an institutional internal matter but as one which is of concern to various stakeholders both internally and externally. The existence of the Quality Assurance (QA) system establishes a sense of accountability and clarifies the roles and responsibilities of providers of higher education, local authorities, students, employers, and other stakeholders in ensuring that programs of study and their related support infrastructure are of the highest standards.
The University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal has launched the Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) program as an important aspect of reform in higher education in Nepal. In pursuance of its Action Plan for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, the University Grants Commission (UGC), Nepal propose that every higher educational institution who is in the process of accreditation should establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will become a part of the institution’s system and work towards the realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of institutions. For this, during the post-accreditation period, institutions need to channelize their efforts and measures towards promoting holistic academic excellence including the peer committee recommendations.

Pokhara University already decided to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell at Central level and college level. As a result, Internal Quality Assurance Committee (IQAC) and Self Assessment Team have been established in the School of Business.
The primary aim of IQAC of the School of Business is to develop a system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the school and promote measures for the functioning of the school towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.
