A Day Seminar on Fundamentals of Life Insurance & its Market Trends in Nepal

This seminar is mainly organized by Gurans Life Insurance Co. Ltd. and supported by SGBI. The purpose of seminar was to let participants know about the market trends of life insurance in Nepal. Sessions were organized around common themes, to facilitate discussion. Approximately 100 participants from students of School of Business and BBA-BI students from Nepal Tourism and Hotel Management Colleges (NTHMC). Resource persons of the program were Mr. Narayan Kumar Bhattarai, CEO of Gurans Life Insurance Company and Mr. Baburam Dhakal, Regional Manager of Gurans Life Insurance Company.

Registration was open from 09:00 am to 10:00 am. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Hair Bahadur Khadka, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Pokhara University, Chief Guest of the program. In augural session, special guest Narayan Kumar Bhattarai, CEO of Gurans Life Insurance Co. Ltd., Dr. Rabindra Ghimire, Director of SOB, Guest Mr. Ravindra Prasad Baral, Coordinator, Employment and Placement Cell, Sunil Timilsina, President of Pokhara University Free Student Union, MBA coordinator Ghana shyam Tiwari and Baburam Paudel, Regional Manager of Gurans Life Insurance,  and other resource person and staff of Gurans Life and participants were also presented. Business, Pokhara University.

A short session was given to SGBI where SGBI vice-secretary Mr. Sabin Sharma hosted the program and vice president Ms. Anjali Poudel distributed the batch to guests. Mr. Sabin Sharma highlighted the objectives of SGBI. Chief Guest and FSU president also delivered the speech. After that technical session was started.

There were three technical sessions and one closing session.

First technical session was related to life insurance products available in Nepal. The session was taken by Mr. Baburam Paudel.

The sessions were about the products of life insurance, and premium calculation of life insurance policy etc.

The second session was related to market trends of life insurance business in Nepal, its prospects and challenges. The session was led by Mr. Narayan Kumar Bhattarai. He highlighted the feature of life insurance market, trend, issues, challenge. The session was very live as both participants and resource persons asked questions and gave the answer of the queries.

The third technical session is related to research in insurance industry. The session was taken by Dr. Rabindra Ghimire. He discussed about the growth of number of products over the period, penetration and density of the insurance industry, claims and surrender trend. He also discussed the composition of different life insurance products of different companies. 

Final session was open session, where participants can ask the questions to any resource persons. During the interaction session participants asked queries and   resource persons replied their questions.
